My Quest for a Screen Door that Slams...

Okayyy...so, for some people, this is a repeat. However, "I" could NOT locate the blog on Typepad....so, I switched to Blogspot!

Welcome! So, wow!! After working so many hours trying to make the look of this new blog simple, yet inviting, I have to ponder for a moment. I'm not sure where to start! Of course, I couldn't just select a "template"...I mean, my goodness! And? Of course, I cannot resist throwing a photo in here.

Welp, this blog is to journal My Quest for a Screen Door that Slams...let's not forget, lemonade in Mason jars, a front porch swing, my very own apple tree for apple pie making, little white cotton curtains that blow gently in the wind, etc...  Where shall I go and what shall I do after living in the Miserable desert for ELEVEN years and owning my own business for eight years? At this moment, I honestly don't know where I want to go, OR where I want to be. I am very open to what is about to come my way. How about a little sweet treat?

Although I loathe living in the desert, I have met so many wonderful people. So now, that my life is about to change drastically, there are many that are curious where I will end up and what will I be doing once I get there. Thus, this blog. I hope to let everyone know what's going on in my life and in return, I will hopefully know what is going on in your lives as well.
After owning my own business for over eight years, I have decided against renewing my lease. Instead, I feel it is time for me to move on and start a new chapter of my life. As I learn what is coming my way, I will post and try to keep up with all that's going on.
Keeping it short and sweet for the beginning....

Have a good weekend!

  1. Come to San Diego and open a cupcake shop next to Paper Tales. There is a store for lease there. I will be your loyal and always sarcastic customer. That's my suggestion. I personally think it's the best one yet......even though it's the first one. Sincerely, Karin :0)

  3. Sorry. Too many typos so I deleted and redid
I was saying that I know how confusing it must be as I'm confused too between Pink Funny Farm and what I thought were 2 people, then a cupcake cafe and then I heard of Bella's and now you're off to something new. You go girl! It is difficult to decide exactly what to do. I got my business license last spring so that I could take my selling of revamped items, artwork and crats from a hobby to a "real business" and am constantly thinking of how to ramp things up. The nice thing for you is that since you can run your own business, you can pretty much live anywhere! There seem to be areas where more shows are held than others - Washington, Texas, Ohio, Florida. Never here in Virginia, at least not the really big ones. Those are places I'd look into if I were relocating. I really like your vision of a slamming screen door, white curtains in the breeze - some of my favorite things! And the pics of those cup cakes are killer! I am sure that no matter what you do or where you do it, you'll be successful! Just keep posting and I'll keep reading and listening. Can't wait to hear more about this upcoming adventure! Hugs, Leena

  5. Anita! Would love to taste your cupcakes. I wish you were in Cali....we are looking to hire someone for the 2 days of the show to bake and serve their cupcakes. Maybe next Christmas?
    Change is good! Ciao Rita

  6. Anita,
How exciting and scary for you! Just think, you can go anywhere and do anything, well, hopefully from the looks of those cupcakes you will continue on with those! I vote for Nashville, TN! Franklin and Nashville are both fun gorgeous places to live! There is so much happening here and coming from a transplanted Californian, the south is a fabulous place to live! (If not TN, NC, Ashville is a little bit of heaven, Georgia all have wonderful places)! Just a thought!! I found you thru Kay Ellen and am your newest follower! Would love for you to visit me! Will be visiting often to follow the journey!

  8. Well I'm from Canada so I'm not sure you would come this far, lol.
Found you through Kay. I love that you are taking charge of your path. I've just come back from Franklin and Asheville. Nice places. Franklin is very very small, but cute, Asheville is a "hippy" town as we called it. Reminds me of Port Townsend, Wash. If I had a choice I think I would pick Savannah. Now I know "back in the day" bakery is there (you must meet Cheryl and Griff), but it's just the sweetest town EVER. I would move there in a flash. I'm looking forward to your adventure Anita.
LOVE your header and blog format. I wouldn't change that ; )
Good luck and may all your dreams come true.
    Love Claudie
